Dunsmuir Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees approved the Single Plan for Student Achievement for 2008/2009 during a regular board meeting Wednesday, June 11.
The plan is based on an analysis of student academic performance and is aimed at reaching school goals and to improve student academic performance, according to a board report.
One improvement goal is that all students will engage in post-secondary life plans through the Career/Academic Transitions Center, College Options and Personal Education plans.
The district plans to set up an active articulation process with the feeder schools, Dunsmuir Elementary and Castle Rock Elementary, as well as College of the Siskiyous and Shasta College.
The process is designed to allow staff/school interactions to assess and discuss path and career options, according to the report.
Another goal stated in the plan is to improve the reading abilities of all students.
The action plan to meet this goal is to create a Professional Learning Community. The vision is to create a community-minded school through collaboration with feeder schools, improved collaboration for cross-curricular instruction and student character development, according to the report.
