Katherine (Kay) Sande made a peaceful and loving transition to the Light on Thursday, June 12, 2008 in San Diego, California from heart disease. Her oldest daughter, Jeanine Sande, was with her and her younger daughter, Chris Hoehn, supported her via phone and in spirit.
Kay was a vibrant 86 year old who enjoyed her life and loved to help others. She was patient, cheerful, caring, helpful, creative and loved to laugh.
Born in Los Angeles, California, where she was married and raised her two daughters, Kay moved to Mount Shasta with her late husband Bob in 1987. She was a licensed realtor in both LA and Mount Shasta.
Kay always loved animals and was an active member of the Siskiyou Humane Society for 20 years, including acting as president of the board. She volunteered at the Humane Society as well as the SNIP Thrift Stores until her death.
Kay loved her water exercise classes and Curves; loved her quilting classes with Tina at Sew Unique; loved her friends in Mount Shasta; loved sharing positive thinking; and loved nature.
On May 20, Kay took a train to LA to spend time with an old family friend. She saw her sister, visited old places she remembered from earlier years, went on a cruise to Mexico, and laughed and laughed.
She spent the last three weeks of her life happy and healthy and laughing and free.
A celebration of Kay’s life will be held this Sunday, June 29 at 5 p.m. at Eskaton Washington Manor in Mount Shasta. Please bring finger food to share, fun stories and joy.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Kay’s name to one of our wonderful local animal support organizations: Siskiyou Humane Society (926-4052), SNIP (926-0400), or STAR (926-6388). Visit the website in honor of Kay at www.kaysande.com
