Cool Mountain Nights could easily be called Event Weekend during Mount Shasta’s Annual Labor Day celebration. And there is plenty packed into each day starting Friday August 29 at 5:30 p.m. to  Sunday August 31 at 6:00 p.m.  
It all begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the MSPD-C.E.P. Car Show and Shine “Friday Night Cruise”. The cruise starts at 7:00 p.m. Cars will “cruise” a circle from Mount Shasta Blvd to Chestnut St.
Then on Saturday at 8 a.m. registration for the MSPD-C.E.P. Classic Car Show and Shine that features hot rods, classic and vintage cars begins. Registration forms are available at the Mount Shasta Police Department. The cost to register is $35. Judging goes from  11 a.m.to  noon with awards and photos to follow between 2 p.m. and 3p.m.. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Veteran Memorial Ride begins in Yreka and will end in downtown Mount Shasta. Motorcycles will be parked on Mount Shasta Blvd for viewing and admiring with over 300 cycles  expected. The Far Side Riders as they are known will help raise money for DARE and other enhanced programs for the community.
The vendor marketplace on Castle Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Food and refreshments will be available from booths and restaurants.
On Sunday, Aug.31 the annual Tinman Triathlon starts at Lake Siskiyou at 8:30 a.m. The swim, run and bike ride brings out hundreds of contestants to compete around beautiful Lake Siskiyou. The Dunsmuir Rotary Club sponsored event benefits the Club’s community projects. More information can be obtained by calling Brian Hembling at 530-235-2786.
Also on Sunday, starting at noon, the Mount Shasta city park is the place to be for family fun and lots of blackberry pie, with the Mount Shasta Rotary Blackberry Festival featuring music, food and games for the kids. Admission is free. Pie sales made by volunteers benefit Rotary community projects.
Live entertainment begins on stage at noon with Allison Scull and Victor Martin then at 2 p.m. Scott Durbin and Friends perform and Soul Exciters take over at 4 p.m.
