Lois Yvonne Dickerson passed quietly from this life on August 19, 2008.
She was born in Los Angeles, California November 27, 1918 to Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Davis. She attended Dunsmuir schools, Armstrong School of Business and UC Berkeley.
Upon graduation, she worked in Yreka until she met her husband-to-be. She and B.L. “Turk” Dickerson were married September 22, 1938 in Canyonville, Oregon. They made their home in Dunsmuir where they raised their daughter, Sharron.
Lois was an accomplished solo violinist, who enjoyed performing in concert, and created beauty and pleasure with her music.
As a young woman she enjoyed tennis and trout fishing and was a member of Mt. Shasta Horsemen’s Club.
She was employed by Pacific Bell Telephone Company in the 1950s, beginning as a switchboard operator, achieving management status prior to retirement. She was formerly a volunteer member of Fairchild Hospital Auxiliary, she loved singing, working crossword puzzles, reading, and her country — she was an American Patriot.
Lois and her husband were founding members of Grenada Berean Church, and throughout the years she touched many lives as a Sunday School teacher. Upon moving to Callahan, she attended the Callahan Community Church and was a friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her husband Turk and brother Bill.
She is survived by her daughter Sharron (and Steve) Farrington of Callahan; three granddaughters and their families, Lisa (and Mike) Gilley and sons Tyler and Ryan; Julie (and Jimmy) Sutter and son David, all of Callahan; and Shelley (and Kip) Whipple and daughters Lizzy and Abby of Etna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family was her life and she will be so very missed by them.
Services were held at Callahan Cemetery Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Callahan Community Church Fund for Children; or the organization of one’s choice.
