If you and your family are looking for something fun to do this holiday season, consider an afternoon at the Siskiyou Ice Rink.
Siskiyou Ice Rink – which is the same size as National Hockey League rinks – is located in Mount Shasta’s Shastice Park.
“The entire family is welcome,” says the Rink’s new manager Robin Taylor. “Rental skates are available in all sizes.”
This year the Rink has a special holiday schedule, and will be hosting several festive events at their facility.
On Sunday, Nov. 23 and again on Thanksgiving Day while your turkey’s in the oven  you can join the Rink’s annual Turkey Bowl, when  the ice will be turned into a bowling alley. Frozen cornish game hens will serve as the  bowling ball for participants to knock down real bowling pins as they compete for prizes.
“It’s as crazy and fun as it sounds,” Taylor says. “Everyone loves this event.”
On Saturday, Dec. 20, the rink will host Santa on Ice, beginning at 2 p.m. Santa Claus himself will be on skates and available for kids to join him in a keepsake photo.
On New Year’s Eve, beginning at 6 p.m. the rink will be hosting their New Year’s East Coast Countdown, where the family can celebrate the ball dropping in Times Square at 9 p.m.
Of course, the rink will be open all through the holiday season. To find out more, visit their website at www.siskicerink.blogspot.com.
