Lillie Mae Hawks passed away at her home in Tulelake, California on Friday, January 23, 2009. She was 77.
Lillie was born May 15, 1931 in Fort Jones, California to Lester and Olive (Swearingen) Barnhardt. She grew up with foster parents Earl and Leila Landrum.
Lillie married Earl Hawks on January 6, 1951 in San Francisco, California. They lived in the Bay Area briefly where she worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company.
They later moved to Weed, California where Lillie worked as a waitress for Louie’s and the Hi-Lo Cafe. She later worked for Cal-Ore and the Newell Co-Op before retiring.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and camping, including many trips to Ore Lake.
Survivors include her son, Robert Hawks of Tulelake; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Paul Huckabay of Weed, California; daughter, Ann Hawks of Weed, California; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Hawks in 2005; sister, Stella Wayland; and a brother, Lester Barnhardt.
A family inurnment service will take place at Winema Cemetery in Weed at a later date. Cremation was held at Eternal Hills Crematory.
