A young Weed High School softball team is gaining experience early this spring with the help of co-head coaches Jeff and Rob Moser and assistant coach Burt Ford, who works with the pitchers. The Cougars opened their Shasta Cascade League season against a more experienced Burney team this past Friday at Bel Air Park. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us,” said Jeff Moser, “but we expect good things.” Weed was scheduled to play twice this week, including a non-league game against Butte Valley March 24 and another SCL doubleheader at Bel Air Park against Trinity on Friday, beginning at 2 p.m.
