The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is alerting Dunsmuir residents about the presence of a mountain lion in the Siskiyou Avenue area.
The Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a call the morning of June 24 from a Dunsmuir man who said he saw the mountain lion that morning while caring for rabbits while the owner is away from a Siskiyou Avenue residence.
The man reported that the lion had been killing rabbits and it approached him before he retreated into his truck.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and patrolled the area but did not see the mountain lion, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office said it notified the Department of Fish and Game and was told DFG would not be responding at this time.
