Preparations are under way to make the 55th Weed Carnevale one of the best ever.
Key events include the parade, which will take place on Wednesday July 15 at 7 p.m., with the route extending from the post office to the Carnevale site in Bel Air Park.
“Usually the parade is Saturday, but we thought we would make it more of a kick off event,” said organizer Sheryl Wilson.
On Thursday night, Weed Youth Baseball will be having a barbecue in Bel Air Park.
The citizens of the year awards ceremony will be held on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Kiwanis pancake breakfast is scheduled for Saturday from 8:30 to 11  a.m.
On Sunday morning, there will be a 10 a.m. mass by Pastor Jim Howe of the Weed Presbyterian Church.
Other highlight events include the bocce ball and baseball tournaments, music and dancing with a variety of different bands and an array of food and refreshment options.
As usual, Butler Amusements will be providing rides. Pre-sale ride tickets can be purchased at Scott Valley Bank, Tri-Counties Bank, US Bank and PremierWest, as well as from the Visitor Center Log Cabin.
This year's logo contest winner was Sol Keen, who received $50 for his "Love Weed, Love Carnevale" logo.
