Diane J. Casterline of Gazelle, passed on the morning of August 20, 2009 at home in the company of her husband and daughters.
A potluck celebration of her life is planned for this Saturday, August 29 at noon at the Gazelle Grange Hall. All are welcome to bring a potluck dish and a memory of Diane to share at this community gathering.
Diane was a resident of Gazelle from age two, and continued to live the rest of her life there, close to her family.
She was a 30-year employee of the US Postal Service at the Gazelle and Yreka offices.
She was a devoted wife and mother, who shared her lifelong love of horses with her daughters and enjoyed several years of retirement with her husband at their ranch outside of Gazelle.
She was diagnosed with liver cancer last December and the family would like to thank everyone who provided support and encouragement through that time.
Diane is survived by a large number of family members: her husband of 39 years, Ray Casterline; her daughter, Renee Casterline and son-in-law, Vinnie Poch, of Mount Shasta; her daughter, Karen Neiman and son-in-law, Scott Neiman, of Tacoma, Washington; her mother, Marjorie Hayes, of Gazelle; her brother, Dick English, of Lake Shastina; her sister, Darlene Sullivan, of Edgewood; and her sister, Susan Seal, of Edgewood.
Her brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews all shared time with her before her passing and mourn her loss.
In honor of Diane’s battle against cancer, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
