Stories will long be told of the snow storm of January, 2010 in the Mt. Shasta area, where trees and limbs fell fast and furious beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19, taking out power, telephone and cable lines in a way that even the old timers don't remember ever seeing before. McCloud residents were without power for four days, many Mount Shasta residents went three days without electricity, and some were going on a fifth day in the dark as of Jan. 23.
A small part of the story is told in these photographs by contributors Audra Gibson and Karrie Ann Snure and Mt. Shasta Area Newspapers editor Steve Gerace.
