Douglas Ream Merrill, a resident of Mount Shasta, passed away on March 19, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta. He was 70 years old.
Douglas was born in Weed, California on February 13, 1940. He was a lifelong resident of Siskiyou County and descendant of a Mount Shasta pioneer family since the 1850s.
Douglas was a real estate developer. He was an avid Republican; and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the NRA.
Douglas built the shooting range in McCloud; and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Merrill of Mount Shasta; sons, Ream Merrill and David Merrill, both of Mount Shasta; daughters, Andrea Merrill, Allison Merrill, Audra Merrill, and Amy Merrill, all of Mount Shasta; brother, Richard W. Merrill of Meridian, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 26 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 214 Adams Drive in Mount Shasta (926-4898).
A memorial service will follow visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at the church with Bishop Dan Taylor officiating. Burial is at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park.
