Authorities are waiting for a break in the weather, which will allow a helicopter rescue Wednesday March 31, to retrieive Thomas Bennett, 26 of Oakland, who has been stranded on the slopes of Mt. Shasta since Saturday.
“A window of opportunity has opened with the weather here in Siskiyou County,” said Susan Gravenkamp, spokesperson for the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department.
The Incident  Command Center is at the Weed Airport several miles north of Weed along Interstate 5. 
Helicopters from CAL FIRE, the California Highway Patrol and the Air National Guard as well as Sheriff’s Deputies, US Forest Service Mountain Rangers and volunteers with the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit will be participating in the operation today.
