Mount Shasta resident Harold Kuiper will celebrate his 100th birthday this week,  and he and his wife Connie will celebrate their 78th wedding anniversary in January.

Harold was a special education teacher most of his career and started out servicing Model ‘A’ Fords in his dad’s shop.

Harold is one of 13 children, and Connie is one of eight. Today, the couple boasts a family of 60 offspring.

Harold and Connie moved to Mount Shasta over 20 years ago and love the community. They have been involved in the Evangelical Free Church since it started.

When people ask Harold how he stays fit at his age, he says, “good clean living, a glass of wine a day and staying close to the Lord.”

Harold now resides in Yreka. When living in Mount Shasta, you could often find him entertaining the “old folks” at Laurel Crest Manor or Mercy’s Care Center playing his harmonica.

Friends of Harold and Connie are invited to attend an open house this Sunday, Oct. 31 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Mt. Shasta Ranch Bed & Breakfast.
