After the Dunsmuir Tigers’ Division 6 semifinal loss in Hayfork Friday night, Nov. 19, head coach Ray Kellar reflected on a season he called “a huge success.”

Defending section champion Hayfork won its 22nd consecutive game over the past two years with a 78-20 win over the No. 5 Tigers.

Kellar said he told his players at half time that it wasn’t about winning or losing anymore, he just wanted them “to approach the next half with vigor and a purpose of just playing and having fun. This was accomplished!”

“In athletics, someone will win and someone will lose (on the field), however, if you approach the game correctly, you will always be a winner,”?Kellar said. “This was our team, consistent winners on and off the field.”

The Tigers ended their season with a 9-3 overall record, a first round playoff victory on the road, and a third place finish in the California-North 8 Man League.

Kellar’s message to the team is, “Thank you Tiger Football for making this season one that I will definitely relish for the remainder of my life. I love each and every one of you young men!  Your heart and dedication is something that will never be forgotten. Continue to live the dream and forever remember this year of Tiger Football!!!”
