Poetry out Loud -- Mount Shasta High School students will recite poetry during the South County Poetry Out Loud competition, held at Lalo's Restaurant in Mount shasta, beginning at 7 p.m. Winners will advance to the countywide Poetry out Loud competition in Yreka at the Yreka Community Theatre on Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sponsored by Siskiyou Arts Council. Off-road riding -- Siskiyou County Off-Road Riders now meets on the 3rd Thursday monthly at 6:30 p.m. at HRF Powersports, 1301 S. Main Street, Yreka. Emotional empowerment -- Mediator and peace educator Ana Holub will present a free four-week Emotional Empowerment series on Jan. 20, 27 and Feb. 3 and 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Shasta Community Resource Center, 109 E. Lake Street in Mount Shasta. The series is designed to help individuals recognize, understand and manage their emotions.
