A Mt. Shasta area man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a female three times in the chest during a party which took place outside Weed.

Bill Heinzle, 47, was arrested by Siskiyou County Sheriff’s deputies in the early hours of Feb. 14, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation began when the Mount Shasta Police Department received a call from Mercy Medical Center on Sunday, Feb. 13 around 10 p.m. to report the stabbing. The MSPD contacted the Sheriff’s Department for assistance in searching for a suspect.

During the investigation, it was determined the attack had taken place outside Mount Shasta city limits and the investigation was then shifted to the Sheriffs Department, according to the press release.

Heinzle was arrested at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday morning. He was booked into Siskiyou County Jail on the charge of attempted murder, and is currently being held without bail.

The victim was still in the intensive care unit at Mercy Medical Center early on Monday, the release states.
