William Richard McKnight was born on January 19, 1943 in Atascadero, Ca, and passed away on February 7, 2011. He was 68 years old.

He worked for CalTrans for 42 years before retiring. He moved to Mt. Shasta, California in 1989.

There never was a human being that loved life and lived life to the fullest as he did. His passion was racing which he started at Saugas Speedway and Ascot. He raced oval, however his specialty was the “figure 8” where he got his nick name “Wild Bill”.

When he moved to Mt Shasta he kept the spirit of “speed” through snowmobiling with the Mt. Shasta Snowmobile Club, his motorcycles, go garts and quads.

He is survived by his wife, Randy, of 34 years, six girls: Carolynn Phelps of Minden NV, Christine McKnight of Topeka, KS, Stacy Grossman of Canyon Country, Brandy McKnight of Mt. Shasta, CoriJo McKnight of Gardnerville, NV and Tyyler of Mt. Shasta; 8 grandchildren, David, Cassie, Sarah, BettyJo, Skylar, Rylee, Jackson and Charlie; and 2 great-grandchildren, Destini and Brandon Jr.

He was preceded by his brother Samuel. Surviving siblings Betsy Shoup, Patricia Miller, Joseph McKnight, Eileen McKnight, Rose Porter, Frank McKnight, Kathy Wagner.

He will be missed by everyone; however, he will live in our minds and hearts forever.
