For the second year, judging for the Mt. Shasta Fourth of July t-shirt contest has been opened to the public.

The Siskiyou Arts Council, partnering with Mountain Runners, has invited the public to visit the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd., to view design entries in the 2011 Fourth of July t-shirt design contest to vote for their favorites.

The designs will be on display until March 4, 2011.

Three former contest winners will act as jurors, and each will cast a vote for their choice. The public’s choice will constitute the fourth vote.

Each design must include Mt. Shasta itself and an indigenous flower from the Mount Shasta area, which has not been used in previous years.

The winning design will be used for the 32nd annual Mt. Shasta Fourth of July t-shirt. The artist will also be awarded $500 plus six t-shirts and a sweatshirt. Second place winner will receive $250.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
