Nancy Gail McGowan, 64, passed away at home after a short illness. Her husband and children were at her side on March 20, 2011 in Redding, Ca.

Nancy was born December 30, 1946 in Vallejo, Ca, to John and Phyllis Moisan. In 1949 the family moved to Modesto, Ca. In 1958 the family moved to Mt. Shasta, there Nancy attended Mt. Shasta schools and College of the Siskiyous.

During high school Nancy worked at Windsor’s Drug Store. In 1968 Nancy married the love of her life, “Pat”. They lived most of their marriage in Redding where they had their children, Christine and Chad.

Nancy was a child care provider for ten years. She later worked in the service center at a local bank for 15 years. Her most important job however, was loving and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren who she adored.

Nancy was very artistic, she loved tending her garden, taking care of her chickens, filling her bird feeders and watching the neighborhood squirrels. She enjoyed sewing for her “kids” and friends. She was an avid reader, her chair in front of the fireplace, a hot cup of coffee and good book was her idea of an end to a perfect day. Nancy was an animal lover, she was crazy about her cats and dogs and they were crazy about her.

Nancy was a very warm and generous soul, we are so lucky to have her in our lives. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Phyllis Moisan of McCloud, Ca; sister, Phyllis Anne Ake of Redding, Ca.

She leaves behind husband, Pat McGowan of Redding, Ca; son, Chad McGowan of Folsom, Ca; daughter, Christine (Jason)  Eatman of Redding, Ca; brother, John Moisan (Sandy) of Fair Oaks, Ca; her sister, Janet (Byron) Cross of Mt. Shasta and her grandchildren, Allie, John, Sam, Rand, Hayden and Lily.

Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations sent to hospice of choice.
