The question
Did the Post Office deliver mail in Mount Shasta on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24 and 25? We didn’t get our mail!

The answer
“We don’t take days off because of snow,” assured Brenda Pope, the postmaster at the Mount Shasta Post Office. In fact, on the days in question, one mail carrier took out her own four wheel drive vehicle, identified by a US Post Office sign on the door, Pope said. All those who had their mailboxes clear did receive their mail. “It really is safety first,” Pope said, adding that if a carrier can’t get down a street, they won’t be able to deliver mail, even if the individual mailboxes are clear.

What it means to you
If you didn’t get your mail during the snowstorm, your mail carrier will deliver all of it the next day, Pope said. “We don’t hold mail at the Post Office because of snow,” she said. “We deliver everything every day.” She added that if your mailbox was damaged during a storm, mail carriers will do all they can to get your mail to you, even dropping it in a bucket if it’s provided.
