Kenneth Earl Moore, a resident of McCloud, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2011 at his home. He was 67 years old.

Kennie was born in Houston, Texas on October 20, 1943 and moved with his family to Dunsmuir in 1945 where his father, Earl, was employed as a railroad engineer and mother, Jackie, was a homemaker who was active in school and public affairs.

Kennie graduated from Dunsmuir elementary and high schools, attended College of the Siskiyous, and graduated from California State University, Chico with a degree in business.

He served with the Army in Vietnam.

Kennie was a talented baseball player and played first base from Little League through the Dunsmuir Merchants and College of the Siskiyous teams.

He worked in the greenhouse industry in Texas for many years then retired to McCloud where he grew flowers for the local farmers markets. He was a good cook.

He will be remembered by his family and friends for his great sense of humor and keen intellect.

Survivors include his son, Deron Moore of Austin, Texas; brother, Don “Buck” Moore of Lake Shastina; and four grandchildren.

No services are planned. A memorial will be held at a later time.

Ken was a popular member of the Dunsmuir High School Class of 1961. His lifelong friends and classmates will celebrate his life during the 50 year class reunion in September 2011.
