Mount Shasta is joining many others across the nation by participating in this year’s Go Skateboarding Day celebration, which has been held every year on June 21 since 2003.

The first Go Skateboarding Day at the Mt. Shasta Skate Park, scheduled to begin at noon on June 21, will feature skateboard contests, raffles, and hot dogs -- all free of charge.

Go Skateboarding Day is recognized as “the official holiday of skateboarding,” according to information at goskateboardingday.com.  “The holiday began June 21, 2003 as an excuse for skateboarders to make skateboarding their top priority. Go Skateboarding Day began with a few simple skate sessions and bar-b-ques held in skateboarding’s unofficial capital, southern California.”
