Jeanne Hicklin, 84, of McCloud passed away peacefully in Fair Oaks, California on July 12, 2011.

She was born on July 11, 1927 to Eugene and Lillian Faut of Lockport, Illinois.

Jeanne married her childhood best friend, Harry, on May 31, 1951. They were married for 55 years until Harry’s passing in 2007.

They moved to McCloud from Illinois shortly after their wedding and Jeanne resided in the same home for 52 years.

She was a teacher at McCloud Elementary School for 20 years, where she taught second and third grades. After her retirement, Jeanne especially enjoyed traveling and researching family genealogy.

With increasing challenges and frustration resulting from advancing dementia, Jeanne had relocated to Roseville, California in December of last year to be nearer her family. She had recently taken a fall and broke her hip, but was recovering nicely in a rehabilitation facility in Fair Oaks.

Jeanne celebrated her 84th birthday with her family enjoying cake, balloons and numerous cards. She was resting peacefully that night when she passed away in her sleep.

Jeanne was predeceased by her four older brothers, Glen Faut of Illinois, Lynn Faut of southern California, Vern Faut of Texas, and David Faut, killed in action during World War II.

She is survived by two daughters, Kim (and Doug) Purdy of Roseville,California, and Bonnie Hicklin of Henderson, Colorado; two granddaughters, Mindy (and Jeff) Johnston of Lincoln, California, and Courtney Purdy of Sacramento, California; two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Lexie Johnston of Lincoln, California; and numerous nieces and nephews living throughout the country.

As per Jeanne’s request, burial will be in her family’s plot in Illinois and no local services will be held.
