History and song -- The McCloud Library will host A Fun Evening of Australian History and Song at 6 p.m. at the Scout Hall on Colombero Drive in McCloud. Presented by Lindsay Edwards; accompanied on guitar and vocals by Traci Montgomery. Sing along to Australian folksongs; learn interesting facts about Australian history, geography and culture; hear how the USA helped influence European settlement in Australia; learn the meaning of Australian slang terms; take part in an Australia trivia quiz and win Aussie prizes. Breast cancer walk -- 4th annual Yreka Breast Cancer Walk, 8:30 a.m., Lower Greenhorn Park, Yreka (arrive early for registration, t-shirts and check-in). Includes: 5 mile run/walk ($30 per person); Mile-ish Walk around Greenhorn Lake; and Tot Trot for ages 0-7. Form a team or participate as an individual. Prizes awarded for best team name, most money raised, largest team, best pink themed costume, farthest distance traveled.
A city-wide, synchronized, pink balloon launch takes place at noon.
