Robert “Bob” Edward Eiler Sr. passed away in Medford, Oregon on October 18, 2011.

Bob was born on September 5, 1935 to Robert Byrnes Eiler and Ethel Isabelle Eiler (Johnson) in Weed, California. He grew up working with his parents at Pacific Packing Company in Gazelle.

He enjoyed hunting and playing sports. After graduating from Yreka High School, Bob attended Stanford University on a baseball scholarship.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business at San Jose State University while being involved in skiing, soccer and polo.

In 1958, he joined the US Navy and attended Officers Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He served as an officer aboard the USS Hancock, touring the South Pacific.

On August 5, 1961 he married the love of his life, Ann Lee Phillips, and they moved to Gazelle where he joined his father in operating Pacific Packing Company.

In 1966, the family moved to Yreka where they lived for 10 years before moving to Fort Jones.
Bob was a successful owner/operator of a large farm in Scott Valley where he finished raising his family.

In 1994, Bob and Ann retired to a golfing and traveling lifestyle, leaving their sons to carry on the family farming business. They continued to live in Siskiyou County until 1997 when they moved to their final home on a golf course in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Bob leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mitch Milan and grandchildren, Megan, Alex and Christopher, all of Kauai, Hawaii; son and his wife, Robert Eiler Jr. and Jeanette of Anderson and grandchildren, Eric, Stephanie and Samantha, and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tristan; and son and his wife, Bill and Corina Eiler and granddaughters, Katie, Jessica and Danielle, all of Fort Jones.

A graveside service and interment will be held at Fort Jones Cemetery Friday, October 28 at 3 p.m., with reception to follow.
