Evergreen League champion Tulelake, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, advanced to the semifinals with a 5-1 win over No. 7 Weed.

The host Honkers scored quickly against the Bears to take a 1-0 lead 3 minutes into Thursday’s game. They scored again at 52 minutes on a one-on-one fast break.

It was a game of few shots on goal: Tulelake had 9, Mount Shasta 8. Bears' keeper Matt Higer had 6 saves, Tulelake 4.

“I felt like we had more teamwork, they had individual skill and a dump and run game,” said Kennedy.

In the first-round win over Trinity, Matheus Lopes scored 2 goals for the Bears. Nils Allmang scored a goal and had an assist. Mariah Althaus-Cressman had an assist. The Bears had 26 shots on goal; Keeper Higer had 2 saves.
