A winter storm warning is in effect in the Mt. Shasta area from 4 a.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012.

Snow has been falling in the town of Mount Shasta Sunday morning, covering in many places ice that formed Saturday night when the skies temporarily cleared.

As of 9:30 a.m., the snow was localized and is predicted to fall at elevations of 3,500 feet and above.

As of 7:30 a.m. Sunday Caltrans was conducting truck screening 10 miles north of Redding at Fawndale ramp exit 689 on Interstate 5.
