Mount Shasta’s Dan Dorsey threw his hat in the  election ring today by announcing he will seek a seat on the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors.

Dorsey, the founder of Home Guard, will be running  for the District 2 seat against  incumbent Ed Valenzuela.

Dorsey said Monday he had been contemplating the bid for some time,  but put the announcement on hold until after the Home Guard’s departure ceremony for local soldiers, which was on Saturday.

“I feel we need better representation in south county,” said Dorsey, a retired CAL?FIRE captain. “We need to be one voice with all the problems going on in Siskiyou County, and I feel I can deliver that.”
