Lowell Edward Acord, a longtime resident of Mount Shasta, California, passed away on February 18, 2012 at his home. He was 77 years old.

Lowell was born in Oklahoma on August 27, 1934 to Earl and Opal Acord. Lowell and his family moved to California in 1937, when he was three. They lived for a short time in Corning then moved to Siskiyou County in 1938.

Lowell worked for the Siskiyou County Road Department for 30 years.

Lowell was very community conscience and a great outdoorsman. He was a member of the Mt. Shasta Rod and Gun Club, Dudes and Daisies, and the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and wood cutting.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Geraldine Acord of Mount Shasta; son, Ken Acord of Redding; son, Greg Acord of Albany, Oregon; daughter, Sherri Neighbor of Albany, Oregon; brother, Melvin Acord of Mount Shasta; brother, Alfred Acord of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mount Shasta.
