Settimo “Sam” Sarti, a resident of McCloud, California, passed away on February 26, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta. He was 89 years old.

Sam was born in McCloud on September 11, 1922. He was a lifelong resident of Siskiyou County.

Sam was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for six months.

Sam was a carrier driver and supervisor for McCloud Lumber Company before his retirement.

Survivors include his son, Danny Sarti of Sacramento; daughters, Sandra Sarti-Shaffer of Mount Shasta and Debbie (and Steve) Colombero of Roseville; brothers, Albert (and Santino) Sarti and Al (and Dino) Sarti, all of Sacramento; three grandchildren, Dawn Fisher, Michelle Denham, and Nancy Lackey-Shaffer; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise Sarti in 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in McCloud with Father Aldrin Basarte officiating. Entombment is at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park in Mount Shasta.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion of McCloud; or McCloud Health Care Clinic.
