Hattie J. Batson left this world on July 10, 2012 in Yreka, California.

Hattie was born in Redding, California to George and Sarah Mason on October 15, 1919. She spent her childhood years in Dunsmuir, California, graduating from Dunsmuir High School in 1936.

Hattie married E.R. (Battie) Batson on November 24, 1939. The couple moved to Yreka in 1945.

Her career was being a wife, mother and volunteer in the community, all done outstandingly. Hattie taught Sunday School at Yreka Methodist Church; and was a Girl Scout leader, helping to found the Girl Scout Day Camp held during the 1950s at the Burton Ranch.

Thirty years ago, she signed up as a volunteer at Siskiyou County General Hospital. Until recently, Hattie could be found at the front desk of Fairchild Medical Center assisting those arriving at the hospital. She gave over 18,799 hours serving in various positions with the Auxiliary.

Hattie is survived by her daughter, Janice Vance of Roseville, California; son, John R. Batson and daughter-in-law Louria of Yreka; grandsons, Jeff Trinca and Forest Batson; granddaughters, Jonna Vance and Starla Kissinger. She also leaves four great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.

Hattie was proceeded in death by her husband of 60 years; her parents; brothers, Jess Brown and Ed Brown; and great-granddaughter, Lindsay Trinca.

There will be no services. Hattie will be laid to rest at the Little Shasta Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Fairchild Medical Center Auxiliary in her name.
