What a way for Bruce Springsteen to spend the start of his 63rd birthday! Delayed by rain and lightning until almost 10:30, Springsteen and the E Street Band still cranked out a 3 1/2-hour show for the ages, featuring not one but two “Happy Birthday” serenades to The Boss, the first “In The Midnight Hour” since the legendary New Year’s Eve show of 1980-’81, a moving “Into The Fire” for a Long Island firefighter who died in the line of duty,”Meeting Across the River” into “Jungleland,” lots of cake, and Bruce’s mom Adele, who apparently has no trouble staying up past her bedtime. See Stan the Man’s roundup here.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Springsteen. May we all be half as rockin’ when we reach our seventh decade.
