A husband and wife were arrested last week after detaining two UPS employees in their driveway while demanding to know why their package was late.
Weed's John and Linda Cosner, ages 70 and 62, respectively, were arrested for false imprisonment and conspiracy to commit a crime, said Siskiyou County Sheriff's spokesperson Allison Giannini.
Deputies responded to the North Old Stage residence after dispatch received a 911 call from one of the UPS employees at about 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, Giannini said.
When deputies arrived, they found a shotgun leaning against a tree and the couple standing in front of the UPS truck so it could not drive away, Giannini said.
"John Cosner was very upset that his package hadn't arrived earlier," said Giannini. "The UPS deliver drivers could not answer his questions as to why it was late."
Both Cosners were booked into Siskiyou County Jail, said Giannini. They each posted $15,000 bail and were released the same night.
Giannini said she didn't know what was inside the package.
