Louis B. Rizzo “Dewey,” a lifelong resident of Weed, California, passed away on October 16, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.
Dewey was born on August 31, 1927 in Weed, California to Rosina and Luigi Rizzo.
He served in the Korean War and married the love of his life, Josie, in June of 1953.
Dewey operated The Flying A and Phillips 66 service stations for 30 years and later worked at International Paper Company and Kimberly Clark until he retired in 1990.
He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and Sons of Italy Lodge in Weed.
Dewey enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and watching sports and CNN. A few of his greatest joys were cuddling his wife and grandkids.
Dewey is survived by his wife Josie of 59 years; son, Chris (Leeanna, Eva) of Weed; son, Dirk of Montague; daughter, Tina of Sacramento; granddaughter, Mindie (Jerome, Devin, Dylan, Isabella, Kinsley) of Weed; and grandson, Derick of Weed.
A memorial service was held on Monday, October 22 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Weed.
Remembrances may be made to the Winema Cemetery, Weed, California; Madrone Hospice House, Yreka, California; or Mercy Medical Center, Mount Shasta, California.
