A man was found dead in an area where he was camping near Truck Village Drive in Mount Shasta yesterday, though the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department doesn’t believe foul play was involved.
Eric Pohley, age 60 of Auburn, appears to have been camping recreationally, said Sheriff’s spokesperson Jayme Lynch.
“There is no reason to believe he was living there, or that he was homeless,” Lynch said.
An autopsy is being scheduled to discover Pohley’s cause of death, Lynch added.
The Sheriff’s Department was called to the Truck Village area at a dead end on Birch Lane at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, according to Lynch.
The area where Pohley was found is on private property, and the nearest landmark is the Black Butte trailhead, Lynch said.
