Dunsmuir's Chase Sordahl and Mount Shasta's Elijah Chapman both rushed for more than 300 yards in road game victories Oct. 25, 2013
South Siskiyou running backs Chase Sordahl of Dunsmuir and Elijah Chapman of Mount Shasta made it onto an elite list for their performances Oct. 25, 2013 – the MaxPreps California Football Stat Stars.
Well, sort of. Sordahl's name is on the list, as he had the third most rushing yards (349) from scrimmage of any ball carrier in the state during the Tigers' win at Hayfork.
Chapman's 330 yard rushing performance in the Bears' win at Live Oak should be on the list, but Mount Shasta's stats weren't posted in time. He had the fifth best rushing performance in the state.
Sordahl scored 5 touchdowns and 4 conversions as Dunsmuir (5-0 and 9-0) stayed perfect in 2013 with a 64-34 win at Hayfork. The Tigers play their final regular season game of the season at home against Happy Camp (1-5 and 2-7) Friday night, Nov. 1. With a win and the Tigers will secure an undefeated championship in the California North 8-Man League. I would be their first league championship since 1996, when they were playing 11-man ball in the Evergreen League.
Mount Shasta improved to 3-5 overall with a 38-29 win at Live Oak. The Bears came back twice from 14-point deficits to earn their first Sacramento Valley League win since 2010. Chapman scored 3 touchdowns, one on a 96 yard run from scrimmage, one on a 95 yard kickoff return, and one on a 30 yard pick six late in the game. He also got tackled at the one yard line on a 96 yard run from scrimmage.
