The Mount Shasta boys and girls teams and Weed girls all won their first round games Thursday in Mount Shasta's Holiday Tournament, while the Camberwell boys team from Australia played well in a loss to Hoopa.
Mount Shasta's boys improved their early season record to 6-0 with a 61-48 win over Willows in Thursday's final game in Robert E. Novo Gymnasium.
The Lady Bears cruised to a 41-20 win over Biggs Thursday evening, long after the Weed girls won the tournament's first game 51-36 over Tulelake.
In other first round boys games, Durham defeated Yreka, 52-51, and Hoopa defeated Camberwell 73-65.
Yreka's won the other first round girls game, 53-51 over Fall River.
Friday's action begins with a three point shooting contest from 10 to 11 a.m.
Second games are:
Girls: Fall River vs. Biggs at 11:30 a.m., Weed vs. Yreka at 2:30 p.m., Tulelake vs. Mount Shasta at 5:30 p.m.
Boys: Durham vs. Hoopa at 1 p.m., Yreka vs. Willows at 4 p.m., Camberwell vs. Mount Shasta at 8:30 p.m.
