Much needed precipitation fell over the weekend in the Mt. Shasta area, and it turned to snow Monday morning, March 31, 2014.

Like some kind of pre-April Fool’s Day joke, it’s snowing in the Mt. Shasta area the morning of March 31, and forecasts are calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow tonight.

After a winter with not enough snow to open the Mt. Shasta Ski Park and only 4 inches of snow recorded in town from Jan. 1 to March 30, and the spring sports season already moving forward haltingly because of rain – of course it’s snowing.

And of course we need the precipitation after one of the driest calendar years on record in California.
