A Memorial Mass will be held this Spring in Dunsmuir for Vincent and Maria.

Vincent F. Padilla

Vincent passed away on December 30, 2016 in Roseville CA.

Mr. Padilla was born on July 19, 1924 in Dunsmuir, CA, to Francisco and Maria Padilla, He graduated from Dunsmuir elementary and high schools.

He served in the U.S. Army as Sergeant in the 74th Battalion and was stationed in Hawaii, Okinawa and Korea during World War II.

Vincent worked as Chief Crew Dispatcher for Southern Pacific Railroad before retiring after 45 years of service.

His passions were watching his grandchildren play baseball as well as the San Francisco Giants. Vincent enjoyed helping others during his lifetime. He will be missed for his sense of humor and loving nature.

He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife of 67 years, Maria, sister Lupe Imhoff, brother Peter, sons Mike (Pam) and Paul (Tracey). Grandchildren Adam, Matthew (Stephanie) and Stephen (Stefanie). Six great grandchildren Noah, Xavier, Zachary, Maxxim, Isabel and Noelle.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Salvador, Connie, Carmen, Augustine, Antonia, Beto, and Lucy.

Maria P. Padilla

Maria passed away on February 3, 2017 in Roseville CA.

Mrs. Padilla was born on June 15, 1923 in Anderson, CA, to Domingo and Mauricia Aguilera.

She graduated from Hazel Creek Elementary and Dunsmuir High School.

Early in her career Maria served as the Hazel Creek Postmistress. She spent time working in the hotel industry and at the Dunsmuir Bakery before resuming the role she loved most as a homemaker.

Maria was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking, painting, gardening, crafting and spending time with her family. She was always there when her family needed her. Maria’s grandchildren will never forget spending part of their summers in Dunsmuir with their grandparents. They’ll never forget the special treats she made and the love she shared in equal measure.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, who passed on December 30, 2016 and brother’s Elisco, Domingo, Nico and Lucio.

She is survived by her sons Mike (Pam) and Paul (Tracey). Grandchildren Adam, Matthew (Stephanie) and Stephen (Stefanie). Six great grandchildren Noah, Xavier, Zachary, Maxxim, Isabel and Noelle.

A Memorial Mass will be held this Spring in Dunsmuir for Vincent and Maria.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John's Catholic Church in the name of Maria P. Padilla and Vincent F. Padilla, 5605 Shasta Avenue, Dunsmuir, CA 96025.
