A 26 year old Mount Shasta man accused of holding a woman and her child at knife-point and refusing to let them out of a vehicle was arrested Friday and booked into county jail.
The Mount Shasta Police Department reported that Christopher Reginato was booked on felony charges of kidnapping, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon (knife), child endangerment, and violation of probation.
As reported in a press release posted Saturday morning on the MSPD Facebook page:
“On 03/03/2017, at approximately 4:45 P.M., the department responded to a 911 call of a kidnapping in progress. The 911 caller reported she and her husband were following the suspect vehicle. The reporting party was on the phone with the 34-year-old victim, who was in the suspects’ car, along with her 5-year-old child. The caller and her husband were using another phone to call 911 at the same time, relaying the information.
“The caller said the suspect was holding the victim and her child at knife-point, refusing to let them out of the vehicle, and threatening to kill all of them.”
MSPD said its officers used locations and direction of travel information relayed from dispatch before conducting a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Shasta Ave. and Caroline Ave.
The suspect “exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident,” and he was arrested following an investigation, according to MSPD.
“This was not a stranger or random abduction,” according to the MSPD. “Additional information is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims.”
