Lois Cabron loved to tell everyone that she was “born an April Fool in Dimwitty, Virginia.” She was born, Lois Esther Fowlkes on April 1, 1930 in Dimwitty County, Virginia.

In 1938 she came to California to live at the Presidio under the Golden Gate Bridge. She attended Heald Business College, becoming a secretary and meeting her husband, Edgar. She had two daughters, Karen and Lauren.

In 1976 Lois sustained a severe head injury and lay in a coma for 3 ½ months. She miraculously came out of the coma and although disabled, lived a happy 40 years since.

She lived in Siskiyou County for the past 20 years, first in the home of her daughter, Karen Cabron and granddaughter, Mireya Cabron; then in her own wheelchair accessible apartment and most recently in the Shasta View Estates in Weed.

Lois was a model of unconditional love. She always had a smile, a joke and a twinkle in her eye.

She passed peacefully with her daughter Karen at her side and surrounded by the love of her friends at Shasta View Estates.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Cabron of Mount Shasta and Lauren Cabron of Seattle, Wash.; her granddaughter, Mireya Cabron; her sisters, Clara and Harriet; her brother-in-law, Sam; many nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at the Shasta View Estates nursing home in Weed.
