As a result of community action, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors has approved a Free Dump Day on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 during normal transfer station hours for all residents and community organizations, excluding commercial haulers and businesses.
Free trash bags are available for pick-up at the Siskiyou County Transit Center, 190 Greenhorn Road in Yreka while supplies last. Dump visits are limited to one vehicle per household and exclude hazardous, medical, or industrial waste, ammunition or explosives, asbestos, chemicals, radioactive materials, and propane tanks.
Free recycling includes scrap metal, electronics, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and used motor oil. Dump fees will be waived on Earth Day at Black Butte, Oberlin Road, Tulelake and Happy Camp Transfer Stations.
