ARailroad Park Resort is inviting everyone to an Open House celebration of its 50th anniversary scheduled for Sunday, April 29, from noon to 4 p.m.

Opening in 1968, Railroad Park Resort was founded and developed by William and Delberta Murphy with a vision for a railroad themed resort. It has become the premier Caboose Lodging Resort in the nation, according to information provided by the Resort.

Its accommodations include: 22 caboose lodging units, one box car, four cabins, 22 RV camping sites, and 23 tent sites. The restaurant and bar are comprised of eight separate rail cars combined to provide a railroad dining experience.

There is a gift shop, campground, general store, game room, pool and spa, as well as a rare Willamette steam locomotive that greets arriving guests in the courtyard. Many other historic railroad artifacts adorn the 48 acre property.

The majestic setting at the base of the Castle Crags with Little Castle Creek running through, is a spectacular site in itself, the release states.

New owners, Mark and Mary Lilley, took over in 2017 and have begun to make improvements to the resort and have plans for many more. “We are so excited to have the opportunity to carry on the legacy of this special place.”

Guests at the open house will have an opportunity to look inside some of the caboose lodging units, tour the restaurant, and walk the grounds. There will be a free hamburger and hot dog barbecue from 1 to 3 p.m., while the food lasts.

There will also be games in the courtyard, door prizes, live music, as well as guided tours of the resort.

Railroad Park Resort is located just south of Dunsmuir on I-5 at exit 728.
