A second suspect in the Dunsmuir assault and battery case which caused serious injury to a 55-year old Dunsmuir man on May 19 has been arrested.
Denton Gene Lopez, age 19 of Montague, was arrested in Yreka at 10:50 a.m. on June 11 on a warrant charging him with assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury, according to a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department report.
Lopez was later released after posting $25,000 with a July court date.
The first arrest in the case was on May 31 when Nathaniel James Newlon, age 19 of Dunsmuir, was arrested and booked into Siskiyou County Jail on a warrant charging him with assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury. Newlon was released on June 2 after posting $25,000 bail with a June court date.
The third suspect in the case is still outstanding, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
