The Mount Shasta Fourth of July Walk/Run has taken the term foot event into a new realm. Over the years, the 2-mile walk course has become a virtual parade in reverse, as thousands of people make their way past more than four dozen performers and entertainers.
This year, the Walk promises more excitement from roving entertainers travelling along with the walkers, including hula hoop stuntman Paul “Dizzy Hips” Blair, acrobats and martial artists Team Fast, contortionist Tara Quinn, The Flying Lotus, the Mount Shasta Walking Circus, local opera singer Philip Engdahl, body paint dancers, traveling balloon artists and the entire cast of the Ramshackle Circus – featuring jugglers, clowns, mimes, sideshow acts, comedians and much more.
As always, belly dancers, church choirs, gymnasts, cheerleaders, classical musicians, country bands and family singers will have their personal stages along the course.
While being entertained, walkers will also be offered food samples provided by local restaurants including Burger King, The River Cafe, Ray's Food Place, The Cornerstone Bakery and Cafe, Bianca's Gourmet, Big D'S Family, Roxy's Vets Club, Jimi's Treasures, Papa Murphy's, Say Cheese, Dos Geckos, Seven Suns Coffee, Pasta Mia and Pauline's Magic Sauces, Subway, Etna Brewery, Mt. Shasta Resort, Klamath River BBQ Company, Sereni-Tea, The Tree House Restaurant, Sengthong's, Maddalena's, Girl Scout Troop 203, The Wayside Grill, Trinity Cafe and Strings Italian Cafe
In addition, the Mt. Shasta Trail Association will continue its tradition of hosting a fresh fruit buffet courtesy of General Produce Company. For the sixth year, liquid refreshments will be provided by Dannon Natural Spring Water.
