Yreka, Calif. -

A 56 year old Yreka man died on July 7, 2009 after falling off the Klamathon Bridge and into the Klamath River near Hornbrook, the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office reported.
The body of 56 year old Edward Atch Rose, Jr. was retrieved from the river near Collier's Rest Area just before 4 p.m., according to the report, ending a short search that involved Sheriff's deputies, a boat, personnel with CAL FIRE in Hornbrook, volunteers of the Hornbrook Volunteer Fire Department, officers of the California Highway Patrol and two helicopters, one from CAL FIRE and one from CHP in Redding.
The Sheriff's Office reported that family members said they had been concerned about Rose’s mental health recently. The circumstances of his death remain under investigation, and the exact cause of death is pending a medical examiner’s report.
A call Tuesday afternoon from the First and Last Chance Saloon in Hornbrook alerted the Sheriff's Office that someone had fallen backwards off the bridge and into the water.
