Weed’s annual Rollin’ Weed Frontier Day and Show and Shine for custom cars, bikes and trucks is scheduled for Aug. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ronda McBride has been  having a good time hopping car shows all over the north state to pull in some award winning vehicles.
A Burn Out contest is scheduled for 1 p.m., an AUDIo contest at 2 p.m., and belly-dancing from the Lava Lotus Dancers out of Lake Shastina will kick off the awards ceremony at 3 p.m.
The street fair opens at 8 a.m. and will include a flea market, art fair and pancake breakfast by the Kiwanis Club.
At 10 a.m. the quilt show at the Mercantile Mall begins with bluegrass players from Rock Creek Crossing. Check out the kids activities and the fruit and veggie exchange also at the Mercantile Mall. Then get a bite to eat at the food court located in US Bank’s parking lot from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year Rollin’ Weed Frontier Day will feature the musical talents of Rival, a local classic rock and roll band. Rival will be on the Weed Arts Council music stage starting at 11 a.m. All the funds were raised by the BrewGrass players who play every Thursday at the Mt. Shasta Brewing Company from 7 to 9 p.m.
This is the second year for Weed Chamber of Commerce and the Weed Arts Council to co-sponsor the event.
They are featuring 30 vendors including hand crafted silver jewelery from Little Critter Creations out of Anderson, local honey from Mowat Apiaries in Edgewood, flea market vendors with a little bit of everything, handmade dolls and puppets, paintings, drawings, Wild Man Jerky and more.
A new Fine Art Furniture show will be held at Turn of the Century Fine Arts gallery on Main Street, featuring creative hand-crafted works from Lewis Meyers and William Wareham.
River Run Art Gallery on Main Street will be celebrating their 4th anniversary in Weed and will be featuring an array of artists — Eloise Larson, Sharon LoMonaco, David Gochenour, Daryl Brooks and others. The theme of the show is “Four More.”
You can also stop by Swanson Images on Main Street and see the photography of artist Bob Swanson titled “The Unseen Weed.”
Admission is free, and it’s fun for the whole family.
