The Sacramento River Spring Festival in Dunsmuir will capture the attention of attendees with a host of activities designed to teach and entertain from Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. through Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m.
Angling guides Fred Gordon and Wayne Eng will kick off the Friday evening event at the Brown Trout Cafe and Gallery with their Romancing the River presentation about the Sacramento River’s blue ribbon fishery.
More than 25 exhibitors will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday in downtown Dunsmuir with such names as Adopt a Tree, Goin’ Batty, Water Safety First, and Keeping Your Home Safe from Fire. Fishing guide and artist Fred Gordon will share the Sac River’s aquatic mysteries.
Portions of Sacramento Avenue and Pine Street will be closed to traffic.
“There will be something for everyone, from art aficionados to those interested in the local Native American cultures,” said Mike Michelon, superintendent of Dunsmuir Elementary School. “You can even eat lunch while watching a Watershed Operetta.”
The list of “spawnsors,” partners and supporters reads like doing a web search of Siskiyou County natural resource agencies and organizations and Dunsmuir businesses.
“The business community is busy getting ready for the event and is offering an array of coupons only available during this festival weekend,” said Dunsmuir Chamber of Commerce President Barbara Cross. “We think this will provide another layer of interest and opportunities for locals and visitors alike.”
