Eight year old Megan Clark of McCloud was one of the winners of the Child Abuse Prevention Council’s “I Feel Loved When” art contest.
She was recognized at The Gallery in Mt. Shasta Thursday evening during an art reception featuring the work of several of the contest’s finalists.
“April is Child Abuse Prevention Month,” said Jill Phillips, executive director of the Siskiyou Child Abuse Prevention Council. “We wanted to highlight positive things we can do to prevent child abuse.”
Among the activities pictured on the art were “I feel loved when my mom and dad take me out of town to Yreka in our truck,” “When my dad plays swords with me,” and “when we go skiing at the Ski Park.”
Megan’s picture was of her and her brothers, Logan and Dawson, playing outside.
Megan’s picture will be featured on the t-shirts for the 3rd annual Mile for a Child walk and run, which will take place on Saturday, April 24 at the Yreka High School track. A one mile walk, 5k walk/run and a 10k run are scheduled.
